School Bag Project
Project description and objectives
This project assisted young students from families affected by the June violence by providing essential school materials to them. It was carried out in partnership with the directors of Kizil Qishloq school number 65 school and Amir Timur School.
Major Activities Completed and Results
CDI visited two schools attended by many schoolchildren living in areas affected by the June violence. The administration identified for CDI which students were affected. CDI distributed a school kit to each of these children. Each school kit contained a school bag and school essentials such as pens, pencils, and erasers. Also in the kit were soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste. At the 2 schools, a total of 330 kits were distributed.
As the kits were being distributed, we spoke with the children encouraging them to continue in their friendships across ethnic lines. The director of both schools expressed thanks for the assistance given to the children: “We want to thank CDI for helping people that suffered in the violence in Osh.”
