Basic Aid to Orphans

Project description and objectives
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for special need children in governmental orphanages. Our goal is to provide the appropriate equipment, needed resources, and training through specialists in the area of special needs children.
Major Activities Completed and Results
This project has been carried out in repeated visits to orphanages and homes for handicapped people. CDI staff participated in such varied activities as giving New Year’s parties, helping with basic care, and leading craft and communication activities. Material aid was given in the form of refrigerators, blankets, a washing machine, diapers, toys, and snack foods.
Specific activities included:
- Gave 2 refrigerators (Beko) to Belivosk orphanage for kitchen results children were able to store meat, milk and dairy products for consumption.
- Gave 257 warm blankets 70 bags of chocolate candies and 80 large fluffy pillows for bedridden children for New Year’s/Christmas celebration. Children were able to be warm and have a fun New Year celebration despite being separated from their families at a key time of the year.
- CDI staff visited Belivosk 1 time in a month doing activities with children including crafts and games. This helped to increase fine motor skills and provided positive encouraging relationships with adults.
- CDI staff visited Bishkek baby orphanage 2-3 times a week helping with basic care.
- Gave washing machine to adult orphanage in Iskra
- Gave 25 blankets and 13 mattresses to the Toktogul facility for elderly and orphans
- Facilitated 50 meals for a New Year celebration at Svetli Put on Dec 18th. Every child also received a blanket and candy.
- Facilitated a New Year’s celebration at the Bishkek baby orphanage assisting 100 children:
o groups 4-6, each received gift bag with toys and treats.
o Group 3 were given snacks and the room was given toys.
o The Baby rooms and the room out-side got diapers and a mobile phone.
